Against: 1. Nowadays, not all shows are appropriate for children so parental control is required. 2. There are barely any good programmes on, it's a lot easier to find something interesting to watch online or on Netflix. 3. There are very few channels that show educational programmes and too many channels that show silly reality shows and tv series. 4. There is too much violence on TV and most of the time the media only shows the bad news, which is depressing and annoying. 5. People get addicted to watching TV and become more lazy and mindless. For: 1. In small doses, it's entertaining and relaxing after a long day at work. 2. Television allows people to watch something they can't attend in real life, for example not everyone can go to football matches or go to a different country to attend the Olympic Games, but many peope can still watch it at home. 3. There are many good stress relief comedy programmes. 4. Nowadays TV sets easily allow you to record any programme that is shown on TV so you can either watch it later or even keep a recording for many years. 5. It's a relatively cheap way of entertainment with a variety of programmes to choose from.
